DU students, supporters demand justice for Osman Hadi’s killing at Shahbagh. The Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu), along with several Dhaka University–based student organisations and supporters of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, staged a sit-in at Shahbagh on Thursday night, demanding justice for those responsible for his killing. The protest began shortly after news of Hadi’s death spread. Ducsu, Jatiya Chhatra Shakti—the student wing of the National Citizen Party (NCP)—and the Anti-Dominance Students’ Collective later joined the demonstration. According to eyewitnesses, protesters gathered in front of the Raju Memorial Sculpture, chanting slogans calling for the swift punishment of Hadi’s killers. State mourning on Saturday over the death of Osman Hadi Chief Adviser of the interim government Professor Muhammad Yunus, in an address to the nation delivered shortly after 11:15pm on Thursday night, announced a state mourning on Saturday following the death of martyr Sharif Osman bin Hadi. In his speech, the Chief Adviser said that the national flag would be flown at half-mast on Saturday at all government, semi-government and autonomous institutions, educational institutions, all public and private buildings, as well as Bangladesh missions abroad. He also announced that special prayers and supplications would be held after Juma prayers on Friday in all mosques across the country, seeking forgiveness for the departed soul of Osman Hadi. Osman Hadi’s body to arrive from Singapore

Osman Hadi’s body to arrive from Singapore Friday evening Namaz-e-janaza is set to be held in Bangladesh on Saturday The body of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha, is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh from Singapore at 6:05pm on Friday. His first namaz-e-janaza will be held at 10am on Friday at the Angullia Mosque in Singapore. The information was shared shortly after midnight on Thursday through Inqilab Mancha’s official Facebook page. According to the organisation, Osman Hadi’s body will be transported on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines commercial flight, departing Singapore at 3:50pm local time on Friday. Following the Singapore funeral prayers, another namaz-e-janaza will be held in Bangladesh on Saturday after Zuhr prayers at Manik Mia Avenue.

Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi dies

Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, who was critically injured in a gun attack in Dhaka last Friday, has died while receiving treatment at Singapore General Hospital. Inqilab Mancha confirmed his death in a Facebook post on Thursday night, and the news was also shared from Osman Hadi’s verified Facebook account. The information was further confirmed to Dhaka Tribune by Saeed Hasan, convener of the Dhaka University unit of Inqilab Mancha. According to Saeed Hasan, Osman Hadi passed away at 9:45pm Bangladesh time. Dr Ahad, head of the National Citizen Party’s (NCP) health cell and Hadi’s treating physician, also confirmed the death in a video message, stating that the hospital in Singapore had formally notified them. Earlier on Wednesday night, Singapore’s Foreign Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan visited Hadi at the hospital.
