State mourning on Saturday over the death of Osman Hadi
Chief Adviser of the interim government Professor Muhammad Yunus, in an address to the nation delivered shortly after 11:15pm on Thursday night, announced a state mourning on Saturday following the death of martyr Sharif Osman bin Hadi.
In his speech, the Chief Adviser said that the national flag would be flown at half-mast on Saturday at all government, semi-government and autonomous institutions, educational institutions, all public and private buildings, as well as Bangladesh missions abroad.
He also announced that special prayers and supplications would be held after Juma prayers on Friday in all mosques across the country, seeking forgiveness for the departed soul of Osman Hadi. Special prayers will also be arranged at places of worship of other religions.
The Chief Adviser prayed for the forgiveness of Osman Hadi’s soul and expressed his deep condolences to his bereaved wife, relatives and colleagues.
In his address, Professor Yunus further stated that the government would take responsibility for the welfare of Sharif Osman Hadi’s wife and his only child.
